Each playground session blends hands-on exploration, sensory-rich building experiences, and early problem-solving to help young makers understand how the world works. Children experiment with beginner coding ideas, simple circuits, early engineering, and creative design through playful, highly engaging, age-appropriate experiential activities.
The Playground also builds the foundational thinking skills that set children up for future success in the Core and Studio programs.
Core
progressive, instructor-led levels in two streams: coding & tinkering
an immersive learning experience: students enter at level one in their chosen stream, gaining skills for successive levels via 8 week long projects with real-world output and impact
Coding: Level One
Arcade Creators
Dive into the world of game design as you learn the fundamentals of coding through building your very own playable arcade game. We’ll explore pixel art, sprite animation, character logic, scoring systems and level design while learning how to prototype, test and debug like real developers. At the end of the session, each student will publish their finished game and showcase it using shareable QR cards for friends and family to play.
Software: Microsoft MakeCode Arcade, Adobe Express/Canva
Hardware: iPads, Chromebooks
Optional Add-On: A BBC micro:bit processor and handheld device to run your game (and any future games you might decide to make!)

Tinkering: Level One
CAD for Kitties
Learn the fundamentals of 3d modeling and printing while designing and developing your very own product. We'll explore prototyping, testing, iterative design and basic product marketing. At the end of the session we will deliver our final product to select stores to be sold to actual customers – all for charity!

a building & tinkering makerspace
monthly themed maker challenges, where kids are free to direct their own journey of discovery - with full mentor support
The studio is an open makerspace where creativity and independence thrive. Each month features a new theme, with suggested projects to explore - or the freedom to design your own. Our instructors offer mentorship and support throughout, helping kids problem-solve confidently without feeling stuck.
January: Winter Wonderland

The Build Lab
PA Day Camp
a full day of bricks, blocks and imagination!
Get ready to spend the day imagining, designing, prototyping, building and rebuilding with blocks, bricks, tiles and carboard. Each camper will build independently and collaboratively throughout the day - creating cityscapes, reimagining natural structures and maybe even bringing some nether fortresses to life!
We'll break up the day with a pizza lunch, followed by some organized outdoor fun at the Central Public School play yard.

an epic, multi-day stem adventure - from cardboard engineering to 3d printing, robots, coding and giant collaborative builds, this camp delivers five full days of creativity, teamwork and pure maker magic. (AGES 5-12)
